Meeting and Planning for the Ngutukaka project
š„This week we were joined by Trees That Count, Bay Conservation Alliance, RaukÅ«mara Pae Maunga Restoration ProjectĀ and people from The Endangered Species Foundation, who embarked on a real and heart-felt journey to the heart of Tairawhiti (East Cape) to meet the people who work on the ground here, re-establishing Tairawhiti Ngutukaka š„.

We shared how we are educating, growing and planting ngutukÄkÄ at kura, marae and along roadsides, from NgÄti Porou to Te WhÄnau a Apanui. This is just the start of our journey to restore this taonga species to an entire coast that used to bloom red!
We also had a planning session and will be developing a video and a first time, NgutukÄkÄ Festival in 2024. So watch this space ā tickets will be limited and in high demand, for some very special #endangeredspeciesĀ garden tours, found nowhere else on earth.
š NgÄ mihi nui ki a koutou, our pou who brought us all together and massive thanks to Trust TairÄwhitiĀ and the Sunrise Foundation for supporting this mahi, we cannot do it without you. š„š„š„
